About P&O Ferries

P&O Ferries—originally part of the 19th-century shipping giant P&O (Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company)—traces its roots to 1837 . While P&O began passenger cruises as early as 1844, ferry services were introduced in the late 1960s across the North Sea and English Channel, including key routes like Hull–Rotterdam, Dover–Calais, Southampton–Le Havre, and Irish Sea crossings

In 2002, P&O Ferries emerged as a consolidated brand following mergers that unified its Dover, Portsmouth, and North Sea operations.Owned by DP World (Dubai) since 2006 and repurchased in 2019, all its UK-registered ships were reflagged to Cyprus post‑Brexit for regulatory and tax efficiency
