About PGL Travel

PGL is the UK’s leading outdoor education and adventure-travel provider, founded in 1957 by Peter Gordon Lawrence as “PGL Voyages,” originally offering canoeing holidays on the Wye Valley. Over the decades, it grew from offering canoeing, sailing, and pony-trekking under canvas to expanding into school residentials by the 1980s. Since then PGL has acquired numerous UK centres, entered skiing in the ’90s, opened a French HQ in the Ardèche, and now runs 14 permanent UK sites (plus centres in France and Australia). Today it serves over 350,000 guests annually and integrates into HB Education under Midlothian Capital Partners since 2019.

What PGL Offers

1. Educational & School Trips – residential courses in core subjects (Geography, MFL, sciences), subject-linked field studies, French-language stays, REACH personal development programs, UK Explorer cultural trips.

2. Adventure Holidays & Camps – age-grouped 2–7‑night camps for 8–16-year-olds: kayaking, rafting, high‑ropes, giant‑swing, axe‑throwing, Quick Jump, Aqua‑Park and more.

3. Group Residentials – tailored for Brownies/Girlguides, Scouts, faith or youth groups with specialist programming.

4. Family Adventure Breaks – parent-child or all-ages adventure breaks, accredited by Ofsted, BAPA, and ABTA; childcare vouchers and tax-free childcare accepted.

5. Ski Trips – ski & snowboard trips for secondary school groups.

How to Book?

1. Start by browsing the relevant section (e.g., School Trips, Adventure Holidays, Family Breaks) on PGL’s website.

2. Enquire or book directly online. You will receive a booking confirmation and email instructions to set up a MyPGL account.

3. Through MyPGL, you can manage your booking, access your group itinerary and essential travel docs.

4. For schools: final itinerary and details are provided about 8–12 weeks before the trip, with the final information pack issued ~2–4 weeks in advance.

Payment Methods & Terms

1. **Payment Schedule** (for group bookings):
   • Deposit + interim payment more than 56 days before travel,
   • 60% due 56–29 days out,
   • 80% due 28–15 days out,
   • 100% payable at least 14 days before travel.

2. Final balances are invoiced ~12 weeks before; payment is required by 8 weeks before travel.

3. Accepted Payment Types: credit/debit cards; for family camps you can also use childcare vouchers or tax‑free childcare accounts.

4. Late payments may incur interest, and full payment is required before arrival. Changes post-final invoice may have amendment fees.

5. Insurance: optional but highly recommended, purchased during booking. Premium must be paid upfront.

6. Refund/Cancellation policy: based on time before travel; insurance may cover cancellations. “Cooling-off” period (14 days) applies if no travel has started .
