kip is a Canadian online delivery service founded in 2012 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where it still keeps its head office. It grew into one of the country's two largest delivery platforms before being acquired by UK-based Just Eat in 2016 for $110 million, then folded into Just Eat Takeaway.com after its 2020 merger with Takeaway.com.

Ownership changed again recently: Prosus acquired Just Eat Takeaway.com in a deal worth roughly €4.1 billion, taking the group private. Skip continues to operate under its own brand and Canadian management.

Is Skip the same as SkipTheDishes?

Yes. SkipTheDishes rebranded to Skip on 21 October 2024, dropping "TheDishes" from the name. It is the same company, the same Winnipeg head office and the same app — your account, saved addresses, payment methods and SkipRewards points all carried over untouched.

The new positioning is "Skip to the good part", and the logo now carries a maple leaf as a nod to the company's Canadian roots. You can cancel your food delivery order in the Skip app and at the website when going to Order Tracker and tapping the “Cancel Order” button before your order has been processed. If the restaurant has already prepared your order, contact Skip support. The cancellation window is short — once the restaurant accepts and begins preparing, the button disappears and a refund becomes a support decision rather than an automatic right. For missing or incorrect items, report the problem through the order in the app rather than by phone; that route attaches the complaint to the order record and is handled faster.

Skip reviews

Skip's reviews on Trustpilot are negative with a rating of 1.1 ★ and 7414 reviews received, 63% of which rating are 1 ★ ratings.
