Picodi.com analysis team checked prices of the most popular fruits in 98 countries and ranked places from the cheapest to the most expensive.

Are fruits in Pakistan cheap compared to other countries?

Among 98 investigated countries, Pakistan placed 18th when it comes to the price of apples—on average Rs 175 for 1 kilogram. The most expensive are Puerto Rico (Rs 998/kg), South Korea (Rs 1,003/kg), and Japan (Rs 1,101/kg). On the other side of the ranking are European countries like Poland (Rs 120/kg), Turkey (Rs 116/kg) and the cheapest country—Ukraine (Rs 109/kg).

As for bananas, Pakistan placed first with an average price of just Rs 89 for 1 kilogram. It is similar to Colombia where banana lovers would pay around Rs 109 per kilogram, and Paraguay—Rs 107. The highest price was noted in South Korea with Rs 589 for a kilogram of bananas.

When it comes to the price of oranges, Pakistan placed 3rd out of 98 with an average price of Rs 111. The nation which can enjoy the cheapest oranges is Egyptians (Rs 73/kg), while Japanese — again — would have to pay the biggest price (Rs 869/kg)

For the currency conversion, we used the average Google Finance rates for May 2020. Compared to the previous year, the price increase for these 3 fruits ranges from 10 to 12%. The after-effects of the coronavirus pandemic may lead to a rapid price change.
