Cancelling your Booking - Aer Lingus

Things often don't go to plan and should you need to cancel your flight here's what you may be entitled to depending on your situation and the route or fare you booked.

• Flights within Europe: To cancel a booking, the specific fare type that was selected at the time of booking will determine the refund options available. The fare type can be found in the booking confirmation email and on the ticket.

• Transatlantic Flights: Flights to/from USA, Canada, and the Caribbean may be cancelled and refunded in full within 24 hours of booking, provided that the booking was made at least 7 days in advance of departure.

• Refunds may be subject to a refund administration fee, and the processing will be made to the original form of payment if a cash refund is requested. The refund notification will be sent by email once processed.

• For bookings made through a travel agent, online agent, or another airline, customers are advised to contact them directly to request any refunds.

• Cancellation of individual flight segments within a multi-segment itinerary is considered a change, potentially resulting in an increase in fare and a change fee.

• Cancelling a booking within two hours of the scheduled departure time will entitle the individual to claim a refund of government taxes and charges only.

• If a flight is missed without cancellation, a refund of government taxes and charges can be requested up to 30 days after the flight date. A refund administration fee may apply.

• In cases of duplicate bookings, a refund must be requested within 24 hours, and the last booking made will be refunded if the customer names and itinerary on both bookings are identical.

• In the event of cancelling due to bereavement of an immediate family member or travelling companion, a voucher refund or cash refund can be requested. A death certificate is required before the refund can be processed.

• Immediate family members are defined as: Spouse, children, parents, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother or sister-in-law, son or daughter-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Types of Refunds Explained:

1. If a schedule change by Aer Lingus occurs, affected customers will be communicated with the new flight details and available options if the new times are not suitable.
2. In the event that Aer Lingus cancels a flight, affected customers will be informed of their options through communication from Aer Lingus or their agent.
