PicodiAugust 20, 2020

Picodi.com analysis team looked into earnings in countries around the world and created a global ranking of average wages.

Eldorado discovered

We processed data from Numbeo, a website which surveys hundreds of thousands of citizens of various countries, asking them about the costs of living and actual earnings (after taxes).

Switzerland, where the average wage converted into pesos amounts to ₱296,200, tops the ranking. It is followed by Luxembourg and the United States, whose citizens earn ₱198,500 and ₱174,800 respectively. Philippines, on the other hand, with the average wage of ₱15,200, placed 95th, outranking countries such as Tunisia (₱14,700) or Egypt (₱10,800). Cuba, Uganda and Nigeria, close the ranking with wages between ₱1,800 and ₱9,100.

When it comes to Asian countries, the Philippines ended up in the second part of the ranking (12th out of 16). It was outrun by countries such as Thailand (₱30,600), India (₱21,600), or Vietnam (₱20,000). Following was Indonesia (₱15,100), Sri Lanka (₱12,800), Cambodia (₱10,500), and Pakistan (₱10,300). The ultimate leaders are Singapore, Australia, and Hong Kong — the only countries with average wages higher than ₱140,000.

Methodology

The average wages after taxes come from the website numbeo.com. Local currencies were converted at the average Google Finance rate for August 2020.
